Pioneer of Translation Theory and Professor, University of Westminster, UK and Honorary Fellow of the Charted Institute of Linguists. Professor Bell presented a workshop on Professionalization of Translation Profession and made a keynote address on “Translation as Social Service and Professional Activity”. His 1991 book Translation and translating: theory and practice has been translated into Romanian (2000), Korean (2001), Chinese (2005) with Russian and Malay translations in the press and he plans for a Hindi version in the near future. Contemporary of Noam Chomsky, Prof. Bell has spent quite a considerable period in India.
